So who are these "Pig Farmers"?

The "Mississippi Pig Farmers" are led by Glenn Wasserman who's playing style has been defined as a mix of Dickey Betts & Toy Caldwell with a little jazz influence. It's no surprise as Glenn will be the first to tell they are his band hero's from The Allman Brothers & Marshall Tucker Bands. In addition to his fiery guitar playing, Glenn does most of the band's vocals and has been described as "smooth".L-R: Jim Kleinman, Glenn Wasserman, Arne Englund, Jeff Bennison

As a 17 year old teenager, Glenn led "The Bogus Band", to an invitation to play one of the first afternoon outdoor shows on the streets of NYC at Rockefeller plaza. "Bogus" went on to win a PAL sponsored band competition event that landed the band the slot to perform at the NY premiere of the David Essex movie "Stardust". Glenn and "Bogus" were featured on channel 4 NBC News in NYC creating a buzz about this young and talented band.

By his mid 20's, Glenn found himself doing some session work through a relationship with Fly Studio's in Brooklyn, NY. It was there that he became a "house" guitarist, playing on several demo tapes. That work lead to a short recording contract in the mid-80's with "Zorros", a new artist signed to RCA subsidiary, Hologram Records where Glenn recorded at the world famous "Record Plant" (NYC location). That experience while exciting, was short lived leading Glenn to another crossroad where he decided to get married and focus on school and studies. For the next almost 15 years he let music take a back seat.

Glenn "Mississippi" WassermanGlenn Wasserman moved here to the Lehigh Valley in the Winter of 1993 from his home in Brooklyn, NY. He his wife and dog settled here looking for a better way of life and seem to have found it. Finally Glenn got the calling to play again just a few years ago when he found the Lehigh Valley Blues Network (LVBN) and met Thom Palmer in the fall of 2001. By that summer Glenn joined Thom Palmer & All Points Bulletin (now called the Thom Palmer Band) as lead guitarist. After approx. 18 months and a change in musical direction Glenn & Thom parted ways.

The Mississippi Pig Farmers represents a new beginning for Glenn, a new time in his life where he can enjoy the ride and further hone his musical skills. In additional to his own playing, Glenn is active in the local music community and the LVBN where he is a board member and webmaster. Glenn also hosts several local jams helping to bring new and young musicians into the fold.

Joining Glenn in the Mississippi Pig Farmers are talented musicians, each of whom add their own special touch making all the parts a whole. Without them the end result would not be what it is today and so we all share the credit.

Arne Englund - Guitar and Vocals. Arne is a tasteful player with a strong blues background and is well known and respected by many of his peers. On any given night you might find Arne attending one of the many local jams in the area having fun.

Arne's musical taste is widely varied but rooted in the blues. Playing rhythm, lead or slide, Arne has a unique style and sound that is all his own. Aside from various local bands, Arne went on the road on several tours with recording star, Debbie Davies.

Eventually, Arne decided to stick closer to home and stopped out at a local jam where he met Glenn and they instantly hit it off. Arne is a key band member and lends his own flavor giving the Pig Farmers their signature sound.

Jim Kleinman is back as "Pig Farmer" Bassist.

Jim left us for a while to live in Tennessee and after realizing he missed us decided to come back to PA where he belongs. An accomplished musician, Jim has "been there, done that" and yes still remains to be the enthusiastic "kid" in the band.

Jim is single, likes short walks, sweet things and women who like bassists. He's tall and handsome so ladies, be careful *wink*.

Please welcome Rich Frikkers as the newest addition to the Pig Pen as our drummer !!!

When rich isn't dressing up to scare little kids, you can usually find him somewhere in the Valley doing something. As you can see from his picture, Rich is the resident band "clown", loves to wear silly hats, likes to walk barefoot over broken glass and enjoyed diaper rash as a young kid.

Aside from his drumming talent, Rich is very handy with tools and is known to fix anything broken and break anything fixed. Rich also has the largest sub-woofers know to man as well as other huge equipment which is how he got his current significant other.

In the process of putting this new band together, Glenn was lucky enough to meet and do some early gigs with Todd Wolfe (Wolfe) who was responsible for coming up with the "Mississippi Pig Farmer" name. A special thanks to Todd (and his drummer, Dave Hollingsworth) for all their help and support. Todd & his bandmates are huge talents and have become good friends, I am grateful to know them.

In addition, we want to thank all the players that have contributed to making great "Pig Farmer" music ...
